Back at it

Tomorrow is the first day back to work after a long, not so nice summer. Most of the time the weather was too wet or too hot and with the humidity the hot was also wet. I am glad to be going back to work because I miss having that routine every day and the weekends feel special; unlike the summer where one day is the same as the next.

I have also decided that I have to get myself in shape. I'm tired of feeling pain all the time when I know it's just a matter of losing some weight. So even though my feet start to hurt after about 10 minutes of walking and my knees start to scream obscenities at me, I will walk!! I have to take it slow and not push myself to hard or I'll give up before I can say I gave it a good try.

Today was the first walk and my goal is to walk 3 days a week for the month of Sept. Every Mon, Wed and Fri, I will park my bus down at the mall after delivering all the kids to school and go for my walk. Each week I will increase the time/distance of my walk. I will always carry my backpack too because it keeps me balanced and my back doesn't hurt.

I took the camera with me this morning and got some great shots (I hope) of a falcon sitting in it's nest and then again in flight. The pics will be uploaded later when I have a chance to put them on the computer.

Another day, another picture...or 2 or 3 ;-)

I haven't been very good at keeping this blog updated but I'm going to try....again LOL! Today I went up to Mactaquac to get some pics using the new lens I bought.

OMG what fun!! Even though I didn't have a clue what I was doing, I did manage to get some good shots!!

This one is a shot of the back of the hotel up there. I took it from over at the park. When I was taking the pic I didn't notice that someone was sitting on the dock.

This little guy caught my eye because of his bright, beautiful colours. In the sunlight he shimmered greens and blues.

Nature is beginning to show her fall colours!

Made with Love

My sister and her hubby are not too computer savvy. They have 2 grandkids and probably have hundreds of photos...on their camera! Getting them to the computer and then burned to a disc is something they wait to have done by someone visiting.

Because one of the grandkids lives in TO, my sister has only seen him twice and I don't think she has a hard copy of any photos of him.

Soooo, being the wonderful sister that I am, I downloaded a bunch of pics that my neice and nephew shared on facebook and produced this simple but beautiful LO that I will frame and give to my sister.

New Life

As I have mentioned in a previous post, we have a wooded area on the edge of our yard. Some past owner of this house had a tree cut down, it was probably dead, so I have this ugly stump.

Yesterday as I was getting ready for work I looked out the window and noticed something green on top of the stump. I thought it was just a piece of a branch that got broken off another tree but when I went outside I checked it out.

This is what I found...

A new tree growing out of the old stump!

I also managed to get a photo of this guy, he's been visiting us and snacking on the weeds in our yard every day.

LadySlippers

My favourite wildflower is the LadySlipper and I'm fortunate to have a wooded area beside my house. They are members of the orchid family and while they look quite delicate they grow in the woods among the trees.
I never pick these flowers and I was always telling my son to leave them. Now when he sees them growing, he tells me and I go out with my camera.

Here are a few photos I took and let me tell you it was no easy task...lol...that darned wind was blowing really hard yesterday.

This photo is my favourite. The flower is out of focus and the background is clear. At first glance, when I downloaded the photos from the camera, I thought it was one for the trash bin but when I looked closer it sort of grew on me...lol

Decisions, Decisions!!

I have been playing around with this thing for the last couple of days trying to find Just the right background but there are sooo many to choose from!! This one is nice so I'll keep it for a while.
Now if I could just figure out how to put my photos where I want them, which won't necessarily be at the beginning of a post *sigh*

and now to get started...

Life is ever changing and that's a good thing because how boring it would be without change. I'd like to keep track of some of those changes that may or may not happen in my life so here I am. Mostly though, I want to share with my online friends some of life's special moments and pictures that make me smile.

I'm not a writer but sometimes my fingers type things that surprise even me.

I'm not a professional photographer but I know what I like and sometimes my camera saves those images just as I see them. Other people may not like what I like but hey, that's ok! We all have different tastes.

And on that note, these are a few pics I took last week up at Mactaquac...

About Me

My photo
NB, Canada
I am the mother of 3 grown children and the grandmother of 3 little children. New Brunswick has been my home since 1985 but I was born and raised in Dartmouth NS. Since my accident last year I've not been riding so I've had to find other ways to de-clutter my head; scrapbooking has been a great hobby and now that I have a new camera I have been playing at being a photographer. There is a lot to learn but I have lots of time to learn it and I'm loving the pictures I take.
